Deccan Institute of Technology (DIT) Kolhapur has become a land-mark institute for students of Interior Designing, Landscaping & everything else that goes with architecture, construction & development activities of land. Established in 1996 under a registered trust from the funds that were raised to honor Late Mr. R. S. Beri , a renowned architect of Kolhapur on his 75th birthday, has completed 15 glorious years in the field of education. The founder trustees are Ar. Pramod Beri (Founder President), Er. Subhash Kulkarni (President), Late Ar.C.S. Waichal (Ex. President), Er. G K. Deuskar (Secretary), & Mr. R. R.Doshi( Tresurer) a Tax consultant. After the recent demise of Ar. C. S. Waichal his equally deserving son Mr. N. C. Waichal has stepped in his shoes. Er. Ramesh Powar, Er. Prakash Devalapurkar& Mrs. VarshadeviNadgondeare additional Trustees.
Initially the institute aimed at training the very much needed semi-technical workers like plumbers, supervisors etc.some of these courses are still continued, however many more societal needed courses in landscape, valuator etc were added under the aegis of Shivaji University, Kolhapur, Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education, Maharashtra State Board Vocational of Education.
The institute started its journey in 1996 from New polytechnic college area to a small flat that was converted into classrooms. Today it has well organized training studios on the top floor of Cosmos Commercial Complex building near the central bus stand. The set up is well furnished having necessary training aids & other amenities that a training institute should have. Dedicated teaching staff & competent visiting faculties, who are practicing in their respective fields of architecture , interior designing and valuation are our assets that we can boast of.
The keen interest & involvement of every trustee in the day to day academic & administrative activity of the institute is ever appreciable. The fee structure is kept affordable to most sections of society.The Board of Trustees is do consider cases that need partial or even full exemption. They are selfless in their approach & there is no commercial angle to their motive of running this institute since they treat this as their social obligation.

Student preparation
The key focus of the placement office is to prepare students for their placement and internships. Keeping the students well prepared for what they are likely to face in the corporate world is the responsibility of every academic institute, and the team here at DIT Kolhapur takes every necessary step to train and guide the students. Students are exposed to challenging and research-based academics, and a host of sports along with cultural and organizational activities on this vibrant campus. In addition, preparatory programs were arranged to enhance the communication skills, group dynamics and interview skills. Overall, these programs provided an insight into the job domains and prepared the job aspirants to face the challenges of the future. The students were assigned mentors for guidance and a series of aptitude tests were conducted to improve the problem-solving skills.
About the placement cell
Placement Cell is a student body that works on the career requirements of the students of the college. It is the intermediary which matches the requirements of the companies with the talent pool of the college and liaisons between the recruiters, college administration and the students. The Cell constitutes of diligent and determined people, who dedicate their efforts towards getting the students of their institution placed in the best of companies, be it Campus Placements for the Third Year students, Articleships for the students pursuing Chartered Accountancy or offering Summer Internships. The Cell also assists the management of the college in generating awareness amongst students about the various opportunities present for them to explore.
